Most of us rely on a few go-to outfits for dinner out or a family party. No matter how many different pieces we buy, there are some that just fit well and do the trick for quite a few different social gatherings and there’s nothing wrong with that! However, if you’re looking to add a little variety to your basic outfits, here are a few ideas for how to do it without spending a lot.
Nails. You might not think that your nails have much impact, but that’s not true! Simple, pale nails can make a little black dress elegant for an engagement party while vibrant red ones can make it festive for the holidays or a fun tropical color can make it work for a summer evening out. Learning to do your own nails is one of the greatest investments you can make since a bottle of nail polish will last you a while and cost you less than a manicure or pedicure!
Tights. If you are wearing a skirt or dress, one great way to mix up your look is to swap out the tights or leggings that you are wearing. A sweater dress with leggings and boots has a completely different look than when it is worn with sheer tights and flats.
Makeup. You might not think of makeup as accessorizing, especially if you don’t usually wear much of it, but something as simple as doing your hair differently or playing up your eyes or lips can really make your outfit look completely different. Ask a friend for help if you don’t feel 100 percent comfortable experimenting or check out some magazines or YouTube videos for ideas that will help you change up your look!
Remember, if you spend some time accessorizing some of your favorite pieces, you won’t have to allocate as much to your actual clothing budget!
